Discipleship: Growing in Faith Together
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said.
— Matthew 4:19
Discipleship begins with a simple invitation: to follow Jesus. But following Him is not a single decision or something reserved for Sundays, it is a lifelong journey of learning, growing and becoming more like Him.
Jesus did not call His disciples to follow Him from a distance. He invited them to walk alongside Him, listen to His teaching, ask questions and share everyday life with Him. In the same way, discipleship today is about allowing Jesus to shape every part of our lives: our relationships, priorities, choices and the way we serve others.
We Grow Together
Although faith is personal, it was never intended to be lived alone. Jesus gathered a community of disciples around Him, and the early Christians regularly met to pray, learn and encourage one another.
Being part of a church community gives us opportunities to explore our questions, learn from others and receive encouragement when faith feels difficult. We all have something to learn, and we all have something to offer, regardless of how long we have been following Jesus.
Discipleship does not mean having all the answers. It means remaining willing to learn, allowing God to speak and taking the next step He places before us.
Creating Space for God
Our lives can be busy and noisy. Work, family responsibilities and everyday worries can make it difficult to slow down and listen to God. Yet some of the deepest spiritual growth happens when we intentionally make space for Him.
That might mean spending time reading the Bible, praying quietly, joining a small group or having an honest conversation about faith. These practices do not earn God’s love; they help us become more aware of the love and presence He has already given us.
This September, we are offering several opportunities to help people explore faith and grow as disciples.
The Bible Course
Starting Tuesday 15 September | 7:00–8:30pm | Eight weeks
The Bible Course provides an accessible overview of the Bible’s story, from Genesis to Revelation. Through videos, discussion and personal reflection, it helps us understand how the different books of the Bible fit together, and how its message relates to our lives today.
Whether you are beginning to read the Bible or have known it for many years, this course offers an opportunity to see the bigger picture and grow in confidence when engaging with Scripture.

Hineni: Quiet Prayer
Starting Friday 11 September | 9:30–10:30am | On-going
“Hineni” is a Hebrew expression meaning “Here I am.” It reflects a willingness to pause, become present and respond to God.
Hineni is a quiet and welcoming space for prayer, stillness and listening. You do not need to have any particular experience of prayer, and there is no expectation to attend every session. Simply come when you are able and spend time resting in God’s presence.

Alpha Course
Starting Tuesday 22nd September | 10:00-11:30am | 12 weeks
Alpha is a welcoming space to explore the Christian faith and discuss some of life’s biggest questions. Each session provides an opportunity to learn, share thoughts and ask questions in a relaxed environment.
No question is too simple or too difficult, and you do not need any previous church experience. Alpha is for anyone who is curious about faith, returning to church or wanting to explore what it means to follow Jesus.

Take Your Next Step
Discipleship looks different for each of us. For one person, the next step might be opening the Bible for the first time. For another, it might be returning to prayer, joining a group or becoming more intentional about following Jesus in everyday life.
Wherever you are on your journey, you are invited to take that next step with us. You do not need to have everything worked out. Simply come as you are, with your questions, hopes and willingness to grow.
Following Jesus is the journey of a lifetime, and none of us needs to walk it alone.
